China’s consumer electronics brand Xiaomi has announced that the launch of its flagship smartphone Mi 9, scheduled for February 20th, one day before Samsung’s Galaxy S10 will be available to the public.
The Mi 9 is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 chip, making it the first consumer smartphone that can utilise 5G networks. Vendors worldwide have been in a race to launch new phones that make use of the Snapdragon 855 chipset. Samsung’s Galaxy S10 is among the smartphones that will come equipped with it.
Xiaomi founder Lei Jun has high hopes for the roll-out of 5G networks. As consumers will be able to take advantage of faster connectivity speeds, the prices of Xiaomi smartphones will also go up.
